culture is the phenomenon of human concerns in particular interests and atmospheres. football, as the world’s most popular sport activity, is undoubtedly a remarkable characteristic of british culture. british football has gradually became the symbol of british culture and society ever since the modern football clubs and matches were originated in england, and from that time on, it progressively expanded its influence to the whole europe continent. up to now, its top league - the premier league, is the most famous, passionate, and profitable league throughout the world.
regardless of age, gender or occupation, nearly every british supports a team, this might come from family tradition, friends’ influences, an unexpected chance of contact with football, or because of a particular favorite player. but all of these factors leads to a conclusion: the popular fandom environment effected them, or we can say, forced them to make their own choices supporting a team, and that kind of love, gradually turned into the unique identity of their life. people print their favorite team’s logo on wedding ceremony invitation letters, watch matches together in the stadium or at home, or even request to put the team’s logo on their headstones. moreover, it is quite commendable that different people from different classes join into this game and show their feverish passion altogether, even in the early years of prevailing hierarchy, this activity has the magical power to narrow distances between people. this special kind of identity impacted one’s life on a daily bases, just like we brushes our tooth everyday, british people are used to supporting their beloved teams, and it is such deep love from each individual that resulted in the prosperity of english football.
british regard the premier league as the glory of their society, no matter fans or players, the tenacity and team spirit in and out of the games formed their excellent qualities. england has the most developed football league system in the world, from the premier league down to the lowest division, it has attracted players from south america, africa and all over the world. nowadays, being no more limited domestically, british football culture can be regarded as a cultural blending and integration among different nationalities.
