由于1,5异氰酸酯分子结构中含有很强化学反应活性的异氰酸酯基团-nco,所以它是合成聚氨酯的重要原料之一,也是农药、染料、皮革、光亮剂等工业的重要有机中间体。
异氰酸酯的种类很多,而脂肪族异氰酸酯具有比芳香族异氰酸酯更优异的性能。
1,5戊二异氰酸酯(pdi)也是一种重要的脂肪族异氰酸酯品种,具有不变黄和光稳定性佳的特点。
