1 intercultural communication.
1.1 definition: intercultural communication, called cross-cultural communication first, means the communication between people with different language and cultural background. the communication between people from different countries is a typical symbol. in english class, the foreign teachers and chinese students are born with different cultural background and language. therefore it is a special example of intercultural communication.
2. 研究的基本内容、问题解决措施及方案
methods and procedures of the study
this paper will analyze the expectations and challenges in english class given by american teachers in perspective of intercultural communication. scholars often own this topic to the field of english teaching while i think the class itself is a typical intercultural communication where students can not only learn knowledge but also improve their communicative competence. therefore, i will work on it based on the theory of intercultural communication, which is a creative view. besides, the research method is interviewing the american teachers and chinese students on the topic. interviewing the participants is a popular way in aboard while scholars home pay little attention to this research method. although the research is limited in size, it can tell the true voice in their mind.
firstly, five english majors in different class will be interviewed about their expectations and the challenges they met in the class. secondly, three american teachers will be interviewed on the same theme. finally, the research result will be compared and analyzed.
