摘 要

文化自信是习近平总书记在党的十八大报告中提出的文化理念,它是指一个国家、民族或政党对自己的文化系统和由此体现出来的价值的充分了解、认识和肯定,是对自身文化表现出的一种坚定不移的信念。随着我国综合国力的增强,中国文化在世界舞台上的影响越来越广泛,尤其是在旅游业快速发展的今天,旅游景点资料成为外国游客了解中国文化的一种重要方式,也是践行文化自信的重要领域。但是,旅游景点资料的英译仍然存在拼写错误、用词不当和表达不一致等问题,这在一定程度上影响了游客的理解,也不利于中国文化的传播。本文以文化自信为背景,从特点和作用两个层面分析旅游景点资料。笔者以武汉市著名旅游景点为例,通过理论研究和实地调查,对武汉市旅游景点资料的翻译现状进行了概述,并探讨了在文化自信背景下进行旅游景点资料英译的原则和策略。

Abstract

Cultural confidence is the cultural concept put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping in the report of the party’s 18th National Congress. It means a country, a nation, or a political party’s full understanding, recognition and affirmation of its own cultural system and the value embodied. It is an unwavering belief in its own culture. With the enhancement of China’s comprehensive national strength, the influence of Chinese culture on the world stage has become increasingly extensive. Especially in this age of tourism boom, the information of tourist attractions has become an important way for foreign tourists to understand Chinese culture and also an significant area to practice cultural confidence. However, some problems such as misspellings, improper use of words and inconsistent expressions in tourist attractions information translation still exist, which has affected the understanding of tourists somehow and impeded the spread of Chinese culture. This paper will analyze the features and functions of tourist attractions information based on cultural confidence. Taking famous tourist attractions in Wuhan as examples, the author conducts theoretical research and field surveys, summarizes the current situation of the translation of tourist attractions in Wuhan, and discusses the principles and strategies for translating tourist attractions information in the context of cultural confidence.

1 Introduction

Cultural confidence is the cultural concept proposed repeatedly by General Secretary Xi Jinping since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which is an intrinsic driving force for improving the soft power of China's culture. It means a country, a nation, or a political party fully understands, recognizes, and affirms its own cultural system and the value it embodies. It is an unwavering belief in its own culture (Ming, 2014).

At present, China’ s cultural soft power is not strong enough. To strengthen the country's cultural soft power, we must strive to display the unique charm of Chinese culture and spread Chinese culture. This requires the effective enhancement of the level of foreign cultural exchanges, the full use of the medium of translation, and the promotion of Chinese-English translation. Doing a good job of publicizing Chinese culture abroad is an issue of the times that must be valued.

The international exchange and dissemination of Chinese culture is an important way to enhance the soft power of Chinese culture. With the enhancement of China’s overall national strengthening, the influence of Chinese culture on the world stage has become more and more extensive. The profound heritage of Chinese traditional culture has attracted the attention of many foreign experts, scholars and tourists. Today's international tourism has developed into a new stage of cultural tourism. Cross-cultural tourism translation has become a top priority for foreign-related tourism development and an important area for practicing cultural confidence.
