As the application-oriented talents will become the mainstream of the development of higher education, many colleges of science and engineering are shouldering mission for training high-skilled English talents for meeting the needs of social production, construction, service and management. Therefore, English teaching reform is imperative. This paper will analyse the existing system of cultivating mode of application-oriented talents and explore the innovative English teaching methods of combining the advantages of science and engineering colleges with the traditional English teaching features.
