Abstract

The author Margaret Mitchell was an American who successfully created a vivid heroine Scarlett in the novel: She is passionate and devoted towards love, is brave towards life, and she resorts to all means in dealing with the interest. This paper will combine the historical background of “American profound social change- the Civil War” with Scarlett’s growth experiences to analyze her characters and causes of formation in the novel.

The paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the introduction of the novel. The second part is about literature review. The third part is the analysis of Scarlett from the feminist perspective from several aspects, including the initial awakening of feminist consciousness before the war, the development of feminist consciousness during the war, the feminine consciousness reached its peak after the war and the sublimation of feminist consciousness in love experience. The fourth part is the various reasons for the formation of her characters from the aspects of the growth environment and experiences, the unfortunate marriages and the outbreak of war. The fifth part is the influence on modern females. And the last part is the conclusion.

本文分为六部分。第一部分是小说的介绍。第二部分关于参考文献。第三部分从女性主义的几个方面分析斯嘉丽的性格，包括战争前女性意识的觉醒，战争中女性意识的发展，战争后女性意识达到顶峰，以及女性意识在爱情经历中得到升华。第四部分从她成长的环境和经历，不幸的婚姻以及战争的爆发等原因分析人物性格的形成原因。第五部分是对现代女性的影响。最后一部分是总结。
