In order to figure out what Tess of the D#8217;Urbervilles tells about, I have skimmed through the Chinese version in the first place. It helps me to get familiar with the novel in a shorter period of time. Then I find out the original version and read it carefully. Internet, as another useful tool, also does me a great favor, providing me with abundant information related to both the author and the book. In addition, if something is difficult to understand, I usually turn to my computer for help. As feminism is still popular, much attention should be paid to the relevant information nowadays. There is no doubt that traditional libraries and E-libraries are indispensable, too. Last but not least, my supervisor helps me a lot with this thesis. He constantly gives me some grammatical suggestions and shares his ideas with me. Reading different versions, taking important notes, turning to the Internet and the libraries, and communicating with my supervisor are the main methods of this study.
