1. 研究目的与意义(文献综述包含参考文献)
1. introduction 1.1 research background the great gatsby is the masterpiece of modern american writer scott fitzgerald. in 1925, the great gatsby was published, which established his position in the history of modern american literature and made him the spokesman of the "jazz age" and one of the representative writers of the "lost generation" in the 1920s. as poet laureate of the "jazz age", his attitude to look on coldly and microscopic analysis methods vividly depict the real appearance of american society and described the united states during the period under the concept of "money first" .for the young mr. gates, dream about making money is important than the loss of morality and disillusionment. through the delicate treatment of the dual theme of money and the shaping of three female images from different social classes, the author examines and analyzes the distorted and corrosive effects of money and wealth on human nature with severe moral standards. the work fully reflects the consistent themes of fitzgerald's novels: the lack of conscience, the corrosive effect of money, the depraved life of the upper class, the distortion of personal spirit and the indifference of interpersonal relationships, which reflect the spiritual crisis prevalent in the transformation period of american society. in the study and discussion of the state of mind and values of the "jazz age" today, it is inevitable that fitzgerald's life and major works will center around him, because he is the representative, the chief intoner and critic of the era. according to the spirit of criticism theory analysis, the text reflects the personal spiritual ecological imbalance, which helps to understand fitzgerald on ideological problems in the social transition of thinking and his critique of consumerism culture values held by the attitude, to solve many spiritual ecological problems of the current period of social transition, in particular the guiding significance for the interpretation of feminine values. 1.2 need for the study according to china science communication, values are the cognition, understanding, judgment or choice made on the basis of certain thinking senses of people, which is a kind of thinking or orientation for people to identify things and distinguish right from wrong, thus reflecting a certain value or function of people and things. in class society, different classes have different values. values are characterized by stability and persistence, historicity and selectivity. values have a guiding effect on motivation and at the same time reflect people's cognition and needs. the rise of consumerism in the united states in the 1920s had a profound impact on social economy and culture. world war i destroyed people's deep ethics. in the face of the human tragedy, the traditional values of diligence, frugality, self-discipline and abstinence advocated by puritanism were strongly impacted, and replaced by the values of "money first". consumerism and hedonism were prevalent, and moral depravity and decadence were everywhere, resulting in the lack of belief in the whole society. consumerist-oriented values advocated conspicuous, extravagant and novel consumption, which catered to the psychology of people suffering from the great depression and war. the instinct of seeking and enjoying pleasure prompted people to develop interest in the consumerist culture. although the three women come from different social classes, what they have in common is that their love is fanatical but lack of true feelings. after the war, the united states experienced unprecedented economic prosperity, however, it was just like an era of extravagance, noise, material wealth and spiritual emptiness at that time. money becomes the spiritual pillar and belief embodiment of many women. growing up in this era, traditional cultural forms and values have been comprehensively shocked. in the eyes of women, all the sacred things have ceased to exist, all the norms and standards have been stale and outdated, however, in front of their eyes the numerous and complicated social phenomena have made them confused, the direction of life is also complicated and confusing. fitzgerald, in his work the great gatsby, accurately depicts the typical life and mental state of fashionable girls, vividly showing the pompous social atmosphere of the united states at that time and the empty spiritual world and tragic life of fashionable women driven by extremely inflated material desires. through the interpretation of the values of the female images in the great gatsby, it can be clearly seen that the happy life that the confused women are looking for is just an illusion of the luxurious life. it is meaningful to study the profound influence of an era on the shaping of people's outlook on life, values and love. 2. literature review after the war, american young people represented by gatsby and women showed their rebellion against traditional values and build worship of ”money first#8217; advocated by consumerism culture in the process of pursuing their dreams. at least one-third of all articles in the country that that study the great gatsby are related the theme of the american dream. however, the research direction chosen by the researchers is different. some of the choices further elaborate and analyze gatsby#8217;s ”american dream”. for example, in the article ”like an angry diamond”, eward (2006)analyzes gatsby#8217;s money dream and the elements of the american dream through a specific annotations of the american dream, and realizes that the reason why the american dream was inevitably shattered was due to the dual factors of its own and the times. some question whether gatsby#8217;s dream belongs to the american dream or not. for example, in the ”confusion on fitzgearld#8217;s novels”, zhan (2010)proposed that gatsby#8217;s dream should not belong to the american dream in a strict sense. the dream of the novel#8217;s characters lacks the objective conditions for the realization of the traditional american dream, which determines the final outcome of the dream must be shattered. in addition to the above two studies, there is also a comparison of the similarities between the author and the protagonists to illustrate the obstacles facing the american dream of that era. in the great gatsby#8217;s critical travel in china, ren (2009)contracts the author#8217;s american dream with the american dreams of the other three works, and concludes that fitzgerald pointed out the unreality of the american dream by arranging the ending of the novel.there are also many studies that focus on the female subjects. in the article ”the causes of the fitzgerald#8217;s female prejudice from the women of the great gatsby”, tian (2009)points out that women in the novel are all attached to men and exist negatively. as fitzgerald himself pointed out, he women in the novel are passive, this is a man#8217;s book. with the development of feminist literary criticism theory, it is necessary to reinterpret the works from a new perspective. it is a good teaching material to explain the theory of psycho-ecological criticism. the spiritual ecological imbalance of people under the influence of the adverse social environment described by fitzgerald such as the corruption of lifestyle, the inclination of moral values and the degradation of human nature are the expansion of desire in the final analysis. through the interpretation of theory combined with the text and compared with the values of contemporary women can deepen the understanding of spiritual ecological criticism theory. it is also conducive to a profound comprehension of the seriousness of the spiritual ecological problems in today#8217;s society, so as to draw lessons from the works, obtain beneficial enlightenment, and finally find a good recipe to save the society and guide the correct values. references edwards, a. s. g.
