摘要：皮雕历史久远在世界范围内传播广泛，而唐卡被称为藏族的百科全书，当用皮雕工艺去表现唐卡艺术，通过两种艺术形式的碰撞与结合，即拓宽了皮雕的内容与方向也增加了唐卡的表现形式及唐卡传播途径，又在继承的基础上又对皮雕技艺与唐卡艺术有了新的发展，让观者产生新的视觉感受。

起源于欧洲文艺复兴时期的皮雕与东方唐卡的结合也体现了东西方文化的相互汲取以及影响改变了藏传佛教唐卡艺术的表达方式，用皮替代了传统唐卡绘画用的纸、布、绸，雕替代了画因为材料的改变比较于传统的纸布绸更加易于保存，也丰富了传统唐卡的观赏性。
