Abstract

The automobile steering system is the automobile system which mainly controls the automobile steering. Now it is mainly divided into mechanical steering system and power assisted steering system. The steering system of this graduation project is required to be Chevrolet Malibu. It can be found from the official website of Chevrolet that the steering system used by the 535T sharp line of Chevrolet mairuibao is electric power steering system. According to the requirements of graduation design, the content of this design is an electric power steering system suitable for Chevrolet Malibu.

Electric power steering system is a new power steering system developed on the basis of mechanical steering system and electronic steering system. Based on the traditional mechanical steering system, the intelligent electric power system is installed. According to the different conditions of turning, the power required by the steering system is provided by controlling the motor. The 2020 new Chevrolet Malibu vehicles, which have just come into the market, all adopt electric power steering system. At the same time, due to the obvious advantages of EPS, its related research has become more and more in recent years, which has a great development prospect.

In this paper, the basic overview of the automobile steering system is given first, and then the composition and operation mechanism of the electric power steering are described. The focus of this design is to select the gear and rack through the basic parameters of the vehicle model, then select and calculate the gear and rack steering gear, and finally check the force on the steering gear and gear shaft.

1 Introduction

1.1 Brief introduction of automobile steering system

In the process of driving, we need to change the direction of the car according to the driver's idea, which is called car steering. When the car turns, it can ensure that the steering wheels coordinate with each other. It is composed of three parts: control mechanism, steering gear and steering transmission device.

As one of the important parts of automobile, the performance of steering system directly determines the steering characteristics of automobile. At present, the main automotive steering technologies used in the market include manual mechanical steering, hydraulic power steering, electronic power steering and electric power steering. Electric power steering has the advantages of resource saving, environmental protection and variable power steering. Because of its advanced advantages, electric power steering has become a hot research topic in the automotive industry.

1.2 Design Requirement

The designed steering system must not only meet the design requirements of the general steering system, but also meet the requirements of the model parameters of Chevrolet Malibu.

1.2.1 Design Requirements for Steering Systems

(1) When the car is turning, all the wheels should rotate around the steering center without side slip.

(2) After the car steering is completed, the driver releases the steering wheel, and the steering wheel can automatically return to normal and keep straight driving. (3) Under any circumstances, the steering system shall not have resonance and the steering wheel shall not swing.

(4) Easy to operate.

(5) Ensure that the car has efficient mobility and quick response.

(6) When the steering wheel runs into obstacles, the reaction force transmitted to the steering wheel shall be small[1].

(7)Ensure that the steering wheel and steering wheel turn in the same direction during movement check[4].

1.2.2 Design Requirements of Chevrolet Malibu
